Pat started repairing cars in high school starting his own small “unofficial” business repairing neighbor’s cars. After graduating, Pat attended the University of Minnesota for four years; majoring in English. While attending the U of M, Pat worked part-time for his brother’s race car shop that built, maintained, and repaired race cars for a variety of drivers in the local racing community.
Pat went on to work full-time as a technician for a maintenance, repair, and race car shop in White Bear Lake, Minnesota after 4 years at the University of Minnesota. Pat Learned to repair and diagnose car problems as well as perform machine-shop related repairs on engines and other critical car components through on-the-job training. He worked for this company for approximately six years.
After a couple of years as a shop foreman at another car maintenance and repair facility, Pat decided to open PJW Auto in New Brighton in 1980. PJW Automotive began in a 3,000 square foot facility with two toolboxes and two technicians; Pat and his close friend Tom. The business grew and expanded to cover the new computer-controlled vehicles. Pat grew the business by adding hoists other car repair and maintenance equipment and repair staff to service a full-range of vehicle maintenance needs and repairs. He, along with help of a customer who was a general contractor, built the current 6000 square foot facility in 1985.
Today, PJW Auto maintains and repairs the following car systems: engine cooling and exhaust, power train, transmission and drive train, brakes and traction control, starting and charging systems, steering and suspension, heating and air conditioning, restraint systems, accessories and optional equipment. PJW Auto services numerous car manufacturers including GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Asian vehicles: Daewoo, Honda, Hyundai, Infinity, Isuzu, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru Suzuki, and Toyota. The shop also services light trucks.
Pat is an ASE-certified car repair technician and also a Certified Service Consultant. He is an Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM); a degree he received through the Automotive Management Institute.
